It's no secret that Gonzo has been having financial troubles as of late. The embattled company has even contemplated making their own Ero anime to recoup production costs. Well it looks like the Tokyo Stock Exchange is going to give the company a swift kick in the ass next month. The company can still run of course, but being delisted is a major blow. As an anime fan the main problem with Gonzo is the shows it decides to put out. How many Gonzo shows have a blockbuster first episode only to fall to pieces later on? Not mentioning amazing pieces of work like FMP and Gankutsuou, a large swath of recent shows have been disappointing. With studios like JC Staff, Gainax, Kyoto Animation, BONES, and Madhouse churning out quality series after quality series Gonzo is loosing steam and rank.
While I'm no accountant or business major, Gonzo seems to be a creative company that has lost its way. Dial down the projects and select things that you can concentrate on and make them quality products through and through. Don't run out of money like you did during Dragonaut, it turns out that voice actors actually like to receive money for their work.
