According to ANN, beleaguered anime company Gonzo took another hit this week. Aside from being delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Gonzo's newest effort, Shangri-La, will cease to be released in standard volumes as of volume six. The rest of the volumes, up to volume twelve, will be released in a "special box set". As a R1 consumer I've seen this happen with certain shows getting stuck in limbo, but nothing like this in a series initial R2 release.Still it isn't a surprise to this anime fan when you look at just how much an anime DVD costs in Japan. Much like my post about the Planetes Blu-Ray box's price, it's an insane amount of money even for the most dedicated fan to dish out.
