The R1 anime industry took another hit last week, with Bandai Entertainment announcing that they will stop releasing new titles(DVD, Blu Ray, and Manga). Bandai will continue to distribute its existing catalog, and concentrate on licensing rights to other companies for digital distribution. Coupled with the recent layoffs at Media Blasters, the North American anime market is shrinking. What had been a marketplace filled with many companies vying for one license, has since turned into Funimation standing alone.
