The recent Summer anime season was roundly disappointing. The show of the season, Sword Art Online, turned out to be enjoyable. You can find the full chart here. Let's look ahead to interesting shows premiering this fall.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - Be careful who you drop off classwork for, or else they might think you're friends. Animated by Brains Base, and directed by Hiro Kaburaki(Kimi ni Todoke), Kaibutsu-kun hits my weak spot for well done school comedies.
Chunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai - Here we have Kyo Ani's latest entry. Thankfully Chunibyo looks less sleep inducing than Hyouka. I imagine the heads of Kyo Ani pulling a "Scrooge Mcduck" after the success of K-On. Still, it looks different than their usual fare.
Zetsuen no Tempest - Despite having "The Civilization Blaster" in its title, Zetsuen looks promising. Studio BONES is at the helm with Tsunenori Saito's character designs stealing the show. While the plot is the usual "ordinary high school student finds _______", I have confidence in BONES.
Btooom - While using the "in an online game world" premise, Btooom is one to watch. If it's anything like the manga, except violence, rape, and gore, all lovingly animated by Madhouse. Btooom should be one of the most talked about shows this Fall.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Rev up your "Ora Ora Ora" and "wrrrrrry", it's back.
Suki-tte Ii na yo - A former "Manga Pick of the Month", "Say I Love You" is an instant watch for me. While it's a generic "most popular guy in school falls for the unassuming girl", the female lead can carry the show on her own.
Robotics;Notes - Like Steins;Gate before it, Robotics;Notes is based off a console game. Airing and in the fabled "Noitamina" time slot, this Production I.G animated show is sure to boast high production values. Centered around a high school robotics club trying to build its own mech, Robotics;Notes is easily my most anticipated show of the season.
Psycho-Pass - Note much is known about Production I.G's "Minority Report" like series, but the premise and studio are enough to give this one a look.
Add in Tiger & Bunny and Madoka movies, and you have a strong fall season. Other series also airing this fall; Jormungand's second season, Inital D Fifth Stage, Medoka Box Abnormal, Magi, Little Busters!, Gintama(repeat of certain episodes), K, and a new Combat Butler anime.
