Imagine my surprise when I saw that the Planetes Blu-ray Box is set to be released on September 25th. Planetes was an instant classic for me, so much that I actually contemplated buying the R4 version just for the spiffy box. Bandai released the series here in the R1 market but skimped on the presentation. While I can't blame Bandai for not wanting to put more money into a lagging series, as a huge fan of the show it was kind of disappointing. So naturally my ears perked up when I saw this version being sold at CDJapan.
One small problem...

Really?, that much money?
That's almost my new computer that I'll hopefully get early next year. Curse you high priced R2 DVD's! Like rubbing salt in an open wound, the description mentions "newly-created bonus video footage". While it isn't the OVA all Planetes fans want to see happen, it tantalizes the imagination to think of what the "bonus footage" could be.
