Well it finally happened. Imagine my surprise when I went to check ANN this morning and came across this.
"A.D. Vision, the parent company of ADV Films, has announced that it is shutting down after transfering its assets to several other companies that will continue its operations. AEsir Holdings has acquired selected programming from ADV's film library along with other intellectual property. The SXION 23 (Section23 Films) home video distribution company will assume account servicing and distribution operations for AEsir's assets. Valkyrie Media Partners has acquired 100% of ADV's Anime Network television unit, while Seraphim Studios has acquired ADV's Amusement Park Media production unit."
So it looks like ADV finally succumbed to the pressure and had to fold. I was never a huge fan of ADV, but it's sad as a R1 fan to see one of the first and strongest companies having to shuffle assets and basically close down. Looking back I guess the writing was on the wall when they had to enlist the help of Sojitz only to loose that companies support a short time later. With ADV closing that pretty much leaves Bandai and Funimation, with Funimation becoming the top dog of the R1 anime market.
