The Return of the Kings

Even for veteran anime and manga fans, their fandom had to start somewhere. For many, this included shows like Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. After the comical live action movie, Toei has announced that a new Dragon Ball Z movie is on its way. Akira Toriyama is said to be heavily invested in this movie, even in the screenwriting stages. The official Shounen Jump website lists the movie as premiering March 30th, 2013.

After this bit of news, another bombshell was dropped on fans this month. A new Sailor Moon project has been revealed. Kodansha has confirmed that the new project will be an anime series, and not a feature film. The manga is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and the announcement was made during a live event. There has been no confirmation if the original Sailor Moon cast will reprise their roles in the new series.

If those two announcements were not enough, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is returning in anime and game form! Set to air this fall, a brand new series based on the manga will accompany a new Playstation 3 fighting game based on the series. The game, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle will be released next year. Then you can Wrrrrry and Ora Ora Ora to your hearts content. With these three announcements, on top of great original series, 2012 is shaping up to be a highlight year for the anime industry.
