After months of rumors and conjecture, a new Ghost in the Shell anime has been announced. The new project will be titled "Arise", with it being launched in 2013. The new series will be led by Kazuchika Kise(key animation/animator director), who has no directorial credits listed. Tow Ubukata(Madrock Scramble) will write the scripts. Opposed to having the talented Yoko Kanno handling the music for the new series, Cornelius(Appleseed) will fill in.
With a new staff, along with no Yoko Kanno, we're in uncharted territory with the GITS SAC franchise. I hate to be one of "those fans", but with the way the Winter season is going, I hope they keep most of that away from the new GITS series. I'm still optimistic about this new anime, as both seasons of Stand Alone Complex along with Solid State Society were great.
As long as they don't turn GITS into a harem anime, I'm willing to give this new team a chance.
